Dragon Boat Festival Celebration
View All🪔 The Dragon Boat Festival is not just about eating rice dumplings!
🪔 Over two thousand years ago, the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, wholeheartedly devoted himself for his country and its people, took his own life by drowning in the river on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month to demonstrate his resolve. The commoners, moved by his loyalty and righteousness, set out in boats in search of him, casting rice dumplings into the waters, hoping to protect his body from being bitten by the fishes. This is how the various customs of the Dragon Boat Festival came to be.
🪔 To this day, the Dragon Boat Festival embodies not merely traditional culture, but also a deep cherishment and guardianship of our national heritage and cultural roots. From this act of remembrance and devotion, the traditions we continue to observe today were born.
🪔 Even now, the Dragon Boat Festival represents more than cultural customs. It reminds us to cherish our roots, honour our heritage, and uphold the values of loyalty and gratitude.
🪔 This year, we would like to invite you and your loved ones to return to the monastery for a meaningful cultural celebration. Enjoy specially prepared crystal dumplings, explore traditional cultural activities, and take part in festive game stations inspired by the spirit of Duanwu. Through joy and community, we hope to rediscover the deeper values behind the festival : Love for our country, gratitude, integrity, and cultural continuity. In a rapidly changing world, preserving these traditions allows future generations to continue experiencing the warmth and richness of Chinese culture.
🪔 We warmly invite you and your family and friends to return to the monastery and share in blessings, joy, and good fortune together.
